Together Alone
Together Alone is Anouk's 1997 debut album and the release that established her on a national and international level. Built around a direct, melodic rock sound, it marked the beginning of her recording career.
The album's breakthrough came with Nobody's Wife, which became Anouk's first major hit and remains one of the defining songs of her early catalogue. Notably, the song was not originally intended for the album, but was added after receiving strong reactions during her live performances.
Much of the album was written with Bart van Veen, whom Anouk met by chance through her band's drummer. Alongside those songs, the tracklist also includes outside writing contributions from Barry Hay and George Kooymans.
Together Alone also performed strongly outside the Netherlands, particularly in Belgium and Scandinavia, and laid the foundation for her first international success.
There was an official CD presentation at Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht on 14 October 1997, where Anouk performed some songs from the album.
