Don't
Don't was released in January 2001 as the fourth and final single from Anouk's album Urban Solitude. Unlike the original album version, the single featured a remix by The Anonymous (R.R. Stotijn), who would later marry Anouk, giving the track a darker and more electronic sound.
Like earlier singles from the Urban Solitude era, Don't appeared in two editions: a 2-track version in a cardboard sleeve and a 4-track edition in a plastic jewel case.
The videoclip caused considerable controversy at the time due to its provocative imagery. Anouk appeared in black leather and fetish-inspired clothing, prompting strong reactions from fans and broadcasters alike. Several music channels chose to air the clip only late at night, significantly limiting its television reach.
Partly as a result of the restricted airplay, Don't became one of the lesser-charting singles of the era. Nevertheless, the song later gained appreciation among fans for its darker atmosphere and distinctive production style within Anouk's early catalogue.
