Lost Tracks
Lost Tracks is a 2001 compilation bringing together rare recordings, alternate versions, remixes, collaborations and live tracks by Anouk. Rather than a regular studio album, it offers an overview of additional material connected to the early years of her catalogue.
The tracklist combines acoustic performances, remixes and less widely known recordings, showing how songs from that period could appear in different forms and settings.
Several tracks also carry their own background stories, including Break Down the Wall, which was written for a Pepsi commercial, and the reggae-style '2 Meter' version of Nobody's Wife, showing how familiar songs could take on a very different character in alternate form.
As a compilation release, Lost Tracks works mainly as a companion to Anouk's earlier albums, documenting extra material rather than presenting a newly conceived studio project.
The recordings took place in a villa in Vale do Lobo, Portugal, and offer a glimpse into how Bart van Veen and I create new songs.
