Girl

On 22 November 2004, Girl was released as the first single from Anouk's album Hotel New York. The single was released only as a 2-track CD single in a cardboard sleeve, featuring the album version of Girl and a remix. The cover features a colour photo of Anouk with her shoulder bared, showing her brand new tattoo. Photos from this shoot would later also appear on several Hotel New York-related items, such as photo cards, plastic bags from Dixons and promotional material.

The music video for Girl is striking and very different from Anouk's earlier clips. Anouk appears in a pink top, a black leather jacket and winter clothing, while stately men in red suits and red helmets dance in the background. The clip received a lot of media attention and became a favourite on Dutch music channels.

Girl became a major hit and marked the start of another hugely successful period in Anouk's career. The single spent more than six months in the Dutch Top 40, reached number 2 in the Netherlands, and reached number 3 in Belgium.

In January 2006, Girl was re-released in Germany as a maxi-single, combined with Lost, including album versions and live acoustic versions of both songs.
