Lost

On 4 March 2005, Lost was released as the second single from Anouk's album Hotel New York. The single was released only as a 2-track CD single in a cardboard sleeve. The B-side is an acoustic live version of Fading, recorded on 14 December 2004 for VARA Radio 3FM. The cover features a photo of Anouk that appears to come from the music video, designed in the same style as the Hotel New York era.

The music video for Lost shows Anouk in a room filled with moving light bulbs, sitting in a bathtub. She is not alone in the tub, but joined by a double of herself. In the clip, the much-discussed tattoo on her arm is clearly visible.

Lost became a major success in the Netherlands, reaching number 2 in the Dutch Top 40. In 2008, the song also gained renewed attention in Norway after Erlend Bratland performed it on Norway's Got Talent, bringing the song back into the charts there.

In January 2012, Lost found a similar afterlife in Denmark, after 17-year-old Ida from Videbæk (who would go on to win that season) sang the song during her audition on X Factor Denmark. The original recording surged in popularity in the days that followed, topping the Danish iTunes download chart and getting heavy airplay on Danish radio.
