About the single
On 18 November 2005, One Word was released as the fourth and final single from Anouk's album Hotel New York. The single appeared in three different editions: a standard 2-track CD single in a cardboard sleeve and two limited edition releases with different live acoustic bonus tracks.
The standard edition contains One Word and a live acoustic version of One Word. The first limited edition was a 4-track digipak, featuring One Word plus live acoustic versions of Jerusalem, Alright, and Lost. One week later, on 25 November 2005, a second limited edition was released in a jewel case, containing One Word plus live acoustic versions of Falling Sun, Girl, and Nobody's Wife. These acoustic live versions were recorded during a secret gig at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum.
The music video for One Word is a dark and intimate black-and-white performance clip, with only Anouk's lips shown in colour. Remarkably, Anouk sings the song live in the video instead of lip-syncing, giving the single a raw and emotional feel.
