About the single
Pretending As Always was released as the second single from Anouk's album Sad Singalong Songs, released alongside the album on 17 May 2013, following Birds, with which Anouk represented the Netherlands at that year's Eurovision Song Contest.
Its music video, in which Anouk herself also appears, was one of four short films directed by Dana Nechushtan for songs from Sad Singalong Songs, alongside Birds, Kill and The Good Life, forming a thematically connected series.
Pretending As Always entered the Dutch Tipparade at number 30 in week 27 of 2013 (around 6 July), climbing to a peak of number 17.
