About the single
On 5 April 2019, It's a New Day was released as a stand-alone digital single, the second English-language single of the year after Million Dollar that February.
The song was written by Anouk together with Martin Gjerstad and Thomas Azier, who also produced the track. Anouk wrote the lyrics and sang lead and background vocals, with Isa Azier on guitar, Andert Tijsma on bass, Thomas Azier on drums and strings, and Daniel von Piekartz on organ.
It's a New Day was released as a digital download only. No physical formats are known, and the release contained just the single track.
Unlike Million Dollar, a music video was shot for the single: directed by Victor D. Ponten with cinematographer Daan Bukman for New Amsterdam Film Company, it features Anouk portraying 28 iconic women from history and the present day, among them Marie Curie, Rosa Parks, Audrey Hepburn, Frida Kahlo, Michelle Obama, Serena Williams and Malala Yousafzai. The cover artwork shows her as Mother Teresa, one of the women from the video.
