With Wen D'r Maar Aan, Anouk releases her first Dutch-language album. A surprisingly new sound, even for an artist who was never predictable anyway. It all started in 2015, when Anouk jokingly sang a birthday song for her boyfriend Dominique. He liked it so much that she released Dominique as a single. “To which people said: ‘You have to make a very Dutch album.' I thought that was quite a challenge, all the more because I had become a bit bored musically.” In previous years the songs flowed effortlessly from her pen. Now that she was composing in her own language for the first time, things suddenly didn't come naturally. “There were quite a few moments when I thought: What the hell did I do?!”
